Carat passive "Radiant" chilled beam |
The Carat unit is a passive “Radiant” chilled beam designed to be installed free-hanging from the soffit and positioned above a perforated metal ceiling system. Unlike traditional finned coil batteries, Carat uses both convective and “Radiant” principles to cool the space, offering exceptionally high levels of comfort. Furthermore, Carat offers effective cooling when used with ceiling tiles perforated to just 30% free area and hole sizes of just 3mm diameter. Frengers “Radiant chilled beam can be installed in an exposed situation (without ceiling) in a variety of different colours and can deliver cooling of 300 w/lm with low air velocities for compliance to ISO 7730 European standard for indoor climate comfort conditions due to it’s radiant quotient (where as convective only finned coil batteries are limited to 250 watts per linear meter even when positioned behind perforated metal ceilings to avoid dumping - this information can be found in the REVHA Guidelines and Chilled Beam Ceiling Association / BSRIA publication).
- offers convective and "Radiant" cooling
- operates above microperforated ceilings
- can be installed in 250mm deep ceiling void
- extremely easy to clean and maintain
- very low air movement
- not sensitive to position of heat sources
- Accredited to EN 14518
Carat passive “Radiant” chilled beams are used where high cooling capacities are required whilst maintaining compliance to ISO 7730 comfort conditions and even allowing the most conventional ceiling aesthetic (as little as 30% open area and 3.0 mm diameter holes). The product is particularly suitable for use in offices and large public spaces.
