Active Chilled beams overview

Frenger Systems manufactures and supplies a range of active chilled beams. They draw upon high performance technologies and patented design features to deliver efficient cooling to commercial, educational and healthcare environments.

The vertical batteries that characterise Frenger’s range of active chilled beams enables the units to deliver unrivalled levels of cooling capacity with a given air volume. The units are so efficient that they can provide in excess of 200w/m2 with fresh air supply of as little as 1litre /s/m2.

Active chilled beam units are designed to integrate into suspended ceiling systems. They fit easily into the most common ceiling designs and have removable faceplates that can be perforated to match perforated metal ceilings where required. This removable faceplate provides access to the factory-fitted motorised valve, drain cocks and controls.

Active cooling systems are also designed to ensure very low noise levels. They incorporate a patented nozzle design which delivers cool air to the room very quietly, and makes them suitable for discreet installation in hotels, offices, hospitals and schools/universities.

Where greater air volumes are being delivered Frenger’s Active Chilled Beam technology untilises patented air chamber design to generate a coanda effect within the chilled beam itself and variable air distribution patterns available such as a fan shape distribution to create a short air throw even with high air volumes. This fan shape distribution makes it possible to achieve a low draft risk as the short air throw avoids converging air streams when two active beams positioned side by side.

The Frenger Polaris-I-60 unit is an active chilled beam for integration into a suspended ceiling system. It uses a supply of fresh ventilation air to draw warm room air to the unit’s vertically mounted cooling batteries. This warmer room air is cooled as it passes through the finned tube cooling batteries, and quietly re-introduced into the room in a bi-directional manner.

  • cooling capacity up to 200 W/m2
  • fresh air supply rate up to 80 l/s
  • all recirculated air is contained with in the product casing
  • beams can deliver in excess of 100 W/m2 with supply air rates of 1 l/s/m2

Polaris is used where high cooling capacities are required from limited supply air volumes, and is particularly suitable for use in open plan and cellular office environments.

The Professor-I units are active chilled beams designed for integration into a suspended ceiling system. It uses a supply of fresh ventilation air to draw warm room air to the unit’s vertically mounted cooling batteries. This warmer room air is cooled as it passes through the finned tube cooling batteries, and quietly re-introduced into the room in a bi-directional manner

  • beams can be installed in a 150mm ceiling void
  • high capacity with low supply air volumes
  • all recirculated air is contained with in the product casing
  • available 450mm wide with same cooling / heating capacity.

Professor is used where high cooling capacities are required from limited ceiling void depths, and is particularly suitable for use in office refurbishment projects, schools, hospitals and hotels.

The Plexus Acitve Chilled Beam combines a cooling and heating function with a revolutionary air discharge pattern. By introducing the air in a 360° diffusion pattern instead of a traditional 2-way or 4-way pattern Plexus results in a reduction in air velocities of approximately 30%
