700 Bourke Street | 16th December 2011

Development is underway for this 16 storey landmark building of which Frenger are supplying circa 3400 of their unique ‘Radiant’ Passive chilled beams. The project which is due for completion June 2013 will provide premium grade office space to the National Australian Bank.

Frenger Contribute to Australia’s Green Star Ratings | 24th April 2011

The Green Star scheme is a comprehensive environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings. Frenger is helping many new buildings achieve this with its unique ‘Radiant’/Convective Passive chilled beam and Active chilled beam products.

Here’s how:

Higher COP
By operating the chiller plant at elevated temperatures it’s co-efficient of performance (COP) is increased & energy consumption reduced. The efficiency of the compressor can be increased by using a dry cooling system (inlet water 14ºC instead of 7ºC) with a percentage increase in COP of typically 22%.

Lower Chiller Load
Elevated temperatures enable a significant increase in the opportunity to avail free cooling from sources such as outdoor air or ground water heat sinks. That is an annual increase from 800 hours to 2000 hours for a 12 hour day and 2100 to 5200 hours for 24 hour operation.

Lower Fan Load
Using water as a cooling medium, a significant reduction of primary air can be realised. This represents a typical reduction of 75% - 85% over a traditional all air system.

Lower Chiller Load
Chilled beams will only take out the heat gains present within the room at that time, therefore the return water temperature will be lower during ‘non peak’ conditions resulting in a lower cooling requirement at the chiller.

See below how some of Australia’s most iconic projects have benefited from Frenger’s ‘Radiant’/Convective chilled beams and attained 5 & 6 Green Star status:

Comparision between 5 & 6 Green Star Rating Buildings | 5th April 2011

The University of New South Wales comprised a comprehensive comparison of 5 & 6 Star, Green Star Buildings in Sydney Australia - 30 The Bond & Work Place 6. Frenger Supplied both projects with their unique "Radiant" convective Passive Chilled Beams which made a significant contribution to both buildings achieving their GBCA Star Green Star Rating. Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings.

Worldpark, Adelaide | 18th February 2011

Frenger has successfully delivered in excess of 2800 linear meters of our unique “Radiant” Passive chilled beams to Worldpark, Adelaide which is an impressive 11,500 m2 multi-level office development just outside of the Adelaide CBD at Keswick, South Australia.

Worldpark is a visionary business environment that is both people friendly – designed to encourage meeting, collaboration and a healthy working environment – and environmentally friendly – designed to be environmentally sustainable, conserving water and energy.

Set in a landscaped environment, ‘Green’ initiatives were an essential part of the design, providing sustainable benefits such as significantly reduced energy demand. Therefore, office environment initiatives included our “Radiant” Passive chilled beams to help minimise energy usage. Other ‘Green’ initiatives like reliance on water supply is kept to a minimum, with AAA water fixtures and fittings to reduce usage, and the collection and treatment of storm water onsite.

The environmental credentials of Worldpark are significant. It has a 5 Star Green Star Office Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia and the building is designed to achieve a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating. Our “Radiant” passive chilled beams were carefully selected to help contribute to achieving these ratings.

Therefore, Frenger are proud to have successfully supplied our unique "Radiant" Passive chilled beams to the project.

500 Collins Street, Melbourne | 12th January 2011
500 Collins Street in Melbourne is Australia's first and oldest CBD office building to be refurbished to a standard of 'Australian Excellence' as symbolised by the "5 Star Green Star" rating. One of the major contributing factures to this achievement through the refurbishment project was the installation of a Frenger chilled beam air conditioning system - an extremely energy efficient means of space conditioning when compared to AC fan coil units.
Sudima Hotel, Auckland | 10th November 2010

Construction is currently being carried out to Sudima Hotel near Auckland airport. This project is unique in that it represents the first hotel in Australia and NZ that uses Chilled Beam technology, and maybe the first such project in the Southern Hemisphere. When finished there will be 162 rooms serviced by Frenger Plafond Active Chilled Beams over 5 levels, all beams supplied with chilled water and low temperature hot water via centralised plant. All beams have integrated condensation sensors, control valves and room sensors. Completion expected late 2010.
